No Turning Back

By now, Andrew realized this was no passing animal. The reindeer wasn’t simply crossing the road to reach more forest. It had chosen him, walking straight toward his still body without hesitation. Andrew sat frozen, praying it would change its mind, that it would suddenly turn and vanish into the trees. But time stretched painfully. Seconds dragged like minutes, and the animal just kept coming. There was no turning back now.
