Rose glanced back at the locked doors as they walked, unease prickling her. Something about them gnawed at her imagination. Still, Dalton pressed on, eager to highlight brighter details and steer them forward. By the end of the tour, the couple was conflicted—half drawn in by the charm, half unsettled by the mystery. Then Dalton dropped another surprise. “If you decide today,” he said smoothly, “I’ll be willing to lower the asking price significantly.”
