Rose and Arthur quickly explained who they were, their voices tumbling over each other nervously. They told her they had just bought the house down the street. At the mention of it, the woman’s eyes widened, her body stiffening. It was a reaction that spoke louder than words. Rose faltered but pressed on, saying their first night had been filled with noises, footsteps, and finally—an inhuman scream from behind locked doors.
