The former owners
The elderly woman explained that everyone in the neighborhood knew the couple who once lived in that house. They had been kind, decent people, well-liked by the community. But, she continued, housing companies and greedy relatives had circled them for years, determined to force them out. Her voice lowered as she added, “They never got the chance. Both of them passed away in that house before anyone could take it from them.”
