Rose’s throat went dry as the woman leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. “We thought it was cursed,” she admitted. “Destined to stay empty forever.” She explained how buyers came close but always vanished, frightened off by what they’d seen or felt. “We believed it was for the best,” she added grimly. “None of them deserved to profit after what they did.” She paused, eyes softening. “But then… they found you two.”
