The conversation had left them shaken, but Rose remembered something. Quickly, she pulled out her phone and scrolled through the photos she had snapped during the house tour. One in particular stood out—the picture of Dalton, standing tall in his dark suit. “This man,” she said, holding the phone toward the neighbor. “Do you know him? He sold us the house. But now… we can’t reach him anymore.”
