No exchange of pleasantries
Marco arrived exactly nine minutes later, his dusty red van pulling into the driveway faster than usual. Ben met him at the door, but the roofer didn’t waste time with pleasantries. “Let’s see it,” he said, stepping inside. He still hadn’t commented on the photo Ben had sent him. Something about the silence made Ben uneasy, but he led Marco upstairs toward the attic anyway.
