Checking the cameras

The security office was just a few doors down, tucked behind the main corridor. Frank retraced his steps quickly, pulled up a chair, and began fast-forwarding through last night’s footage frame by frame. There was nothing unusual at first—just darkness and silence—until a flicker appeared in the gym around 2:15 a.m. The image blurred, then the screen went black for a long stretch, as if the system malfunctioned. When it returned, the umbrellas were already there.
