Out of breath

Kevin bent forward, placing his hands on his knees as he gasped for air. Sweat dripped steadily from his forehead, and his lungs burned with every short, uneven breath he managed to draw. His chest rose and fell in rapid bursts, each inhale leaving him weaker. He looked around frantically, scanning every shadow and corner, desperate for any sign. But there was nothing—no sound, no flicker of movement. The man had completely vanished without a trace.
