The elevator dinged, and David stepped into the dimly lit hallway. He pushed open the heavy rooftop door and felt the sharp evening breeze hit his face. There, perched on the ledge just a few feet away, the pigeon waited for him calmly. Its eyes locked onto David’s, almost as if it had been expecting him all along. The blue pouch sat firmly on its back.
