He glanced around again, half-expecting someone to step out from behind a tree and explain it all as a prank or an art project. But the forest was silent, just like it always was. Thomas’s instinct told him to turn around and leave the structure alone. But curiosity slowly pushed aside his caution. He took a deep breath and walked around the concrete staircase.
