Deep darkness
The hatch doors groaned and screeched as they slowly shifted upward, revealing a dark shaft below that seemed to swallow the sunlight completely after a few meters. Thomas squinted, trying to see how far it went, but all he could make out was a deep, endless blackness. A slight fear entered his body. But deep inside, he knew he wanted to know what was down there.
