The Door Ahead
Her breath caught. She turned her flashlight toward the small bedroom door at the end of the hall. The shadows stretched too far, clinging to the edges as though hiding something. The air shifted colder, heavier, as Lilly stared at the handle. That door now seemed scarier than anything she had found so far, daring her to open it and confront the truth waiting beyond.
