A quick look

Stepping out of her car, Lilly inhaled the crisp country air, so different from the smoggy city. The farmhouse was aged and a little battered, but it stood proud, as though it had weathered countless storms. She began circling the property, gently knocking on walls and peeking into rooms. Dust lingered, cobwebs clung to corners, but nothing screamed danger. It seemed safe enough, though the silence left her uneasy. Appearances, she thought, could be deceiving.
