Scrambling
The shock of the giant creature’s screech, combined with the scalding liquid that now covered his upper body, made James yelp and scramble clumsily to his feet. His heart pounded as he tried to regain his footing. “I need to get out of here,” he said to himself, placing his hands on the grassy grounds beneath him to get back to an upright position.
