Stepping outside
Stepping out into the crisp morning air felt refreshing after such a long, anxious night. It also helped that it was light outside, so she couldn’t be surprised so easily. Her neighborhood had wide open streets and ample views from all sides. So, as long as she didn’t walk too close to fences, she could see everything and everyone coming, including previous jar owners lurking in the shadows.
