The old man looked utterly confused as the officers surrounded him gently. He clutched the jar, eyes darting around wildly. “I need to hide it! They’ll find my winnings!” he shouted hoarsely. The police didn’t handcuff him roughly or shout; instead, they spoke softly, guiding him toward the patrol car. Samantha felt her heart twist at the sight. This wasn’t what she had expected at all.
