She crossed her arms tightly, shoulders hunched in frustration. “That doesn’t make sense, and you know it,” she snapped, her voice sharp with irritation. His lack of concern felt wrong, almost dismissive, as the strange rock sat ominously on the counter, deepening her suspicion and fear.
