The screen turns on

With a faint chime, the monitor flickered to life, static crawling briefly across the screen before clearing into a frozen frame. Linda’s throat tightened as she edged closer, her breath shallow and uneven. She locked her eyes on the glowing display, unable to blink. The garden seemed to fade around her, all focus drawn to the answers that rested in the dim light of that single, waiting screen.
