Bursting in
With her heart hammering in her chest, Maya rushed down the final few steps and burst into the kitchen, flipping on the bright overhead lights and screaming at the top of her lungs. Her sudden entrance startled the intruders so badly that they turned in unison, their faces hidden behind dark masks. Without hesitating, they sprinted back through the garden, jumped the fence, and disappeared into the night.
