Old police report
Dr. Carter took a deep breath and turned his monitor so Maya could see. On the screen was an old police report from a few years back, complete with a blurred photo of a creature that looked eerily similar to the one on the exam table. “It’s a rare hybrid,” he said quietly. “A genetically modified squid that can survive out of water like a frog and camouflage with its surroundings depending on temperature.”
