Arriving at the sot
On the drive over, Dr. Carter called animal control, explaining everything he had discovered. When they arrived at the forest edge, they moved cautiously toward the small pond. Almost immediately, Maya spotted something strange: several faint glimmers beneath the leaves and between the tree roots. She and Dr. Carter exchanged a tense look before stepping forward to get a better view.
