Maya’s mind raced with possibilities. Was it a rare species? Some undiscovered insect? The thought that she might be witnessing something unique pushed her excitement even higher. She couldn’t leave it here alone, vulnerable to predators or the cold. At least that was what she told herself to feel better about taking the animal away from the forest.
