Closing time

Eventually, the day drew to a close. The zoo staff ushered out the final visitors, and the familiar sounds of footsteps, chatter, and squeaking wagons slowly faded away. Amber sighed with relief. Closing time was always her favorite, the brief calm after a noisy storm. She enjoyed the slower rhythm of evening routines when each animal returned to their quarters. Still, her mind kept circling back to Cora’s strange persistence throughout the day.
