Anticipating something

Amber walked slowly toward the bag, glancing back at Cora, who remained motionless inside, her gaze locked. The chimp’s expression was intense, watchful, almost like she was waiting for something to happen. Amber crouched beside the bag, frowning. Something about it looked strange. The plastic shifted slightly, as if stirred from within. Her pulse quickened. Whatever it was, Cora’s urgency suddenly made sense — there was something alive inside that abandoned bag.
