Darren entered the lab carrying a mug of coffee, pausing as he noticed the scene. “Maybe her motherly instincts are kicking in,” he said lightly, watching Cora below. “Maybe she thinks it’s hers.” Amber didn’t smile. Her expression was thoughtful, eyes fixed on the chimp’s movements. “Maybe it’s not just instinct,” she said quietly. Her tone was more serious than Darren expected, hinting that she suspected something deeper, something none of them understood yet.
