Not leaving her side
Over the next few days, the pattern became undeniable. Cora hardly left Ivey’s side. She built a small nest of straw in the corner of her enclosure, carefully arranging it until it was snug. Amber watched her settle Ivey there with the same devotion any human parent might show. The chimp only left when absolutely necessary, her eyes never straying far. The bond was becoming something no one could argue against anymore.
