A protective mother

By the second week, Ivey’s back was fully coated in fine fuzz. She looked healthier, stronger, and far more defined than the fragile creature they had first carried in. Cora seemed to notice too. She fussed over every patch, grooming the fur with patient strokes, as though each new strand was precious. With every small change, the bond only deepened. It was as if Cora had claimed Ivey fully, body and soul.
