Through the binoculars, Thomas could make out the details. The shape wasn’t jagged ice or drifting wreckage. It was a person—thin, upright, and motionless against the wind. For a moment, Thomas lowered the binoculars, thinking he had imagined it. But when he lifted them again, the figure was still there, unmoving. His stomach dropped as the truth settled in. Someone was up there, stranded on the drifting iceberg.
