Flashing Lights Arrive
The tense chatter broke when the crunch of tires on snow echoed from behind. Red and blue lights swept across the beach as a police car rolled in, followed by another. The crowd parted as uniformed officers stepped out, their boots crunching against the frozen ground. They moved with purpose, eyes trained on the water. Yellow tape was stretched quickly between posts, marking off the entire shoreline.
