Thomas wasn’t the only one who noticed the police acting differently. Around him, people exchanged confused looks. “Why so many cops for an iceberg?” Helen whispered beside him. Her husband Greg frowned. “And why won’t they tell us what’s up there?” The unease spread quickly. The officers gave vague answers, repeating words like “dangerous terrain” and “stay clear,” but offered no real explanation. Their tight expressions said more than their words did.
