The police—” But Thomas cut him off, explaining what he had seen through the binoculars, the figure standing still, and the way the officers reacted. “They’re hiding something. I know it,” he insisted. Greg rubbed his beard, torn between reason and loyalty. Thomas pressed harder. “If anyone can help me climb it safely, it’s you. Will you come?”
