Packing the Gear

The following day was spent in quiet preparation. Thomas double-checked his harness and sharpened his crampons. Greg tested their ropes and packed extra anchors. Every piece of equipment was carefully chosen, laid out, and inspected twice. They couldn’t afford mistakes. By nightfall, two bags were ready—heavy with gear but balanced for climbing. Thomas looked at Greg, both men knowing what lay ahead. “Tonight,” Thomas said. “We go tonight.”
