Battling the Waves

The journey across was rougher than expected. Each swell lifted the boat high, then slammed it down again. Water splashed over the bow, soaking their gloves and freezing their fingers. “Steady!” Greg hissed, gripping tighter. Thomas didn’t reply—he just rowed, muscles straining with each pull. The iceberg loomed larger with every stroke, its sheer walls reflecting pale moonlight. It looked impossibly big, and impossibly close now.
