The Warning

The man’s voice was hoarse, carried on short breaths, but his words cut through the cold air. “You shouldn’t be here,” he whispered, clutching his chest. His body shook with exhaustion, yet his eyes burned with urgency. He raised a trembling hand, pointing toward the thicker ridge of ice nearby. “It’s not just ice,” he rasped. “There’s something inside it. Something dangerous.” His tone left no room for doubt.
