The Cliffhanger

Another groan echoed through the frozen giant, louder this time. A hairline crack snaked across the surface near them, splitting like a spiderweb. The three men froze, staring at the spreading fracture. “It’s starting,” the man whispered. The air seemed to still, their breaths visible in sharp bursts. Thomas’s jaw tightened. There was no more waiting. They had to do something — now — or watch their entire world shatter into poisoned water.
