A Grateful Survivor

The gaunt man recovered slowly in the town clinic. Warm blankets, steady meals, and patient nurses replaced his years of isolation. When Thomas visited, the man clasped his hand, eyes wet. “You believed me,” he whispered. “When no one else would’ve.” Thomas smiled faintly. “You carried the burden long enough. Now it’s gone.” The man nodded, his thin frame trembling with relief. The weight of years had finally lifted.
