Bob crept a few steps closer, careful to stay along the edges of the clearing. He crouched behind a fallen log, keeping his eyes locked on the porch. The door had closed behind Judith, but she hadn’t turned on any lights. The house remained dark and silent. Bob’s skin prickled. “What is this place?” he whispered, more to himself than anything else.
