Surfacing

Finally, the object breached fully above the waves. Water poured off it in heavy cascades, crashing onto the deck. Its long cylindrical form came into view, twisted and corroded at one end. Jagged edges jutted out unnaturally, wrapped in coral and steel. Onlookers squinted, confused. It didn’t look like scrap. It didn’t resemble wreckage either. Its shape was too deliberate, too alien, as if belonging to a different era entirely.
