When Harper reached the facility’s access road, he saw familiar figures waiting in the shadows. His crew stood tense and silent, the weight of the moment written across their faces. Pete was at the front, jaw clenched so tightly it looked like stone. Behind him, Felix shifted nervously, pulling at the zipper of his jacket as if that motion alone could steady his trembling hands.
