Metallic screech

“They’re still in there,” Pete whispered, his words barely carried by the breeze. Harper gave a quick nod, signaling for the men to hold position. He could feel the tension coiling tighter around all of them, each man strung like a bow ready to fire. Then, without warning, a metallic screech shattered the silence. The massive dock door buckled violently, rolling upward with a crash. Blinding light burst into the yard.
