The tiny creature twisted and thrashed in his hands with surprising strength, slipping free of his grip. It darted across the floor, claws scratching the hardwood, and leapt into Kathy’s lap as if it had rehearsed the move. The other two immediately followed, chirping wildly as they climbed up her arms and nestled against her stomach. Kathy stared down, stunned. “They really are attached,” she whispered.
