Unsettling noises
That night, Kathy awoke to soft scratching sounds in the living room. She crept out of bed and peeked in to find the hatchlings perfectly still in their enclosure, glowing faintly in the darkness. All three slowly turned their heads toward her in unison. They chirped softly together, the sound oddly melodic, and Kathy felt as though they were trying to communicate something she couldn’t understand.
