An ominous decision
Kathy hung up the phone and sat on her bed for a long time, weighing her options. She thought about calling animal control, but the hatchlings seemed so attached to her, even affectionate at times. Still, she was scared. Finally, she decided to wait for Dr. Harris and locked her bedroom door for the first time. She fell asleep clutching her pillow, craving even a small sense of safety.
