A tunnel below
Beneath the van’s floor was a dark hole leading to a crudely dug tunnel. Suzan stared at it, her heart racing. The tunnel seemed narrow, barely wide enough for a person to crawl through, and its earthen walls disappeared into shadow below the van. She was still processing what she had found when a sudden noise behind her made her whip her head around.
