Opening the door

Suzan stood slowly, her heart thudding in her ears as she set the cup down. She walked to the front door, her fingers trembling on the handle. “I’m going to regret this,” she whispered, pushing her nerves aside. She opened the door wide, the cool evening air brushing against her skin. “Come in,” she said softly, her voice kind despite the fear.
