A coverup

For several minutes they waited, eyes locked on the foaming water. But nothing else surfaced. Whatever the shadowy thing was, it had disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Slowly, the disturbed water settled, ripples smoothing into calmness. It felt almost deliberate, like the ocean was trying to erase the evidence of what they had just seen. Megan’s voice was hushed as she whispered, “That was real, wasn’t it?” Bob finally nodded. “It happened.”
