Overhearing them
What Megan and Bob didn’t realize was that a small group of fishermen seated nearby had overheard every word. Mentions of a “long black creature” drifted across the quiet dining room and reached their table. The fishermen exchanged tense, knowing glances before one of them—tall, weather-beaten, and sunburnt—rose abruptly to his feet. Without hesitation, he crossed the room toward the couple. A few others stood quickly, following close behind him with grim expressions.
