Nervous jitter

The engine steadied itself again, but the rhythm wasn’t the same. It felt uneven, almost strained, as though struggling under some unseen weight. The fishermen shifted uneasily, each glance revealing nerves they tried hard to hide. Silence pressed heavier with every second, broken only by water lapping against the boat’s hull. One man tried to ease the mood, letting out a strained laugh. “Never heard it do that before,” he muttered nervously.
