False thoughts

They stood there, silent, staring across the gently rolling sea. The water shifted lazily, waves folding one over the other, but nothing else disturbed the surface. No boats in sight, no animals moving nearby, just emptiness. Bob finally muttered, “Must’ve been a wave hitting a rock,” though doubt crept into his voice. Megan frowned slightly but gave a shrug. With nothing more to see, they continued walking slowly along the sandy shoreline, remaining cautious.
